Optix Privacy Policy

Overview
MetaConsumer Inc. ("MetaConsumer", "us", or "we") provides technology-based media and consumer research to clients across CPG, media, banking, travel, insurance and other industry verticals.. Through our Optix solution we deliver mobile related research that helps our clients understand how consumers use their devices, consume/share media, react to advertising and make purchases.
Terms & Definitions
Optix ("Service") is the solution that is provided by MetaConsumer to clients that are interested in gaining insights and knowledge about their prospective consumers/audiences.
Optix Panel ("Panel") is a mobile centric research panel made of up of consumers that opt-in to provide their data and opinions.
Optix Application ("App") is the mobile application that panelists download to their devices when they join the service. It performs what is known as "passive monitoring", as well as polling, surveys and other consumer research interactions.
User/panelist ("Participant") means any consumer that has been recruited and opted-in to the Optix Panel and accepted MetaConsumer’s terms of service.
Panel Partner ("Partner") means any third party research, panel recruitment/management or other organization that MetaConsumer works with to conduct Optix related research.
What this Privacy Policy Covers
This privacy policy relates to the Optix service and any panelists that participate in the Optix Panel using one or more Optix applications. This policy applies to data that is collected passively and actively during the participation in the Panel. This policy does not cover any data collection or participation via other third parties or MetaConsumer partners that might have recruited you and/or engaged you in other research activities.
Optix Panelist Opt-Ins
During participation in the Panel you as a Participant will conduct various forms of opt-in
Panel Partner Opt-in
When recruited to the Panel via a panel partner you might be opting-in to their service as part of the referral process. In this process you agree to let MetaConsumer and the Partner share, when required, "panelist ID" information which typically is a unique ID number.
Optix Client Opt-in
By installing the App and accepting the Terms of Service you are opting-in and agreeing to abide by the terms and do so under your own decision.
Data Collection Opt-in
By accepting the Terms of Service and joining the Panel you will also be agreeing to allow the App to collect data from the mobile device that the App is installed on. This is your choice and you can choose to grant or not grant access to the App to collect the data it requires to function correctly.
Data Collection
During participation in the Panel various data may be collected by the App including:
- GPS location data
- Metadata, such as applications installed, available storage and memory, battery life, media playing status, wifi vs cellular connectivity, etc
- Type and version of the hardware and operating system or mobile device contains
During participation in the Panel you may volunteer certain personally identifiable information (PII) via answering polls or surveys or filling out your user profile. This may include information such as:
- Product purchasing information
- Address, email or other contact information
- Demographic, behavioral and other preferences
Third Party Data Sharing
Some data might be shared between MetaConsumer and the third party panel partners from time to time. This sharing of data is required in order to properly compensate both the Partner as well as you as a Participant in the Panel.
If you were recruited by a Partner to participate in the Panel certain data might be shared with the Service upon referral:
- Unique panelist identifier. This is typically a unique ID or number
- Demographic and preference data
If you were recruited by a Partner to participate in the Panel certain data might be shared from the Service back to the Partner:
- Whether or not you used the App during a certain time period and your level of activity using the App.
How Data and Information is Used
No personal data collected during your use of the service is shared with third parties or with clients. Data collected about you and your mobile usage is gathered and reported on in an aggregated and summarized form based on your demographic information and other information that might be captured as part of you answering polls, surveys, questions, etc. From this, summarized and aggregated data reports are generated for clients to better understand the behavior and actions of their target consumer base.
From the reporting data clients will make decisions on how much and where to spend on marketing activities, as well as other decisions such as content, messaging and ad targeting.
Based on the data collected by the system we may contact you from time to time for feedback on the service, to provide general updates on service changes or to participate in other consumer and media research opportunities.
Voluntary Participation
Your participation in the Panel is voluntary and you can cease to participate at any time. Feel free to contact us as any time via optix_contact-[at]-metaconsumer.com with questions or if you wish to stop participating in the Panel.
Notice Updates
This privacy policy may be changed from time to time. These changes can be made for a variety of reasons such as:
- Changes in the type of data that is collected and reported on
- Changes in regional privacy rules or legal requirements
- Service updates or feature changes
Whenever this policy is updated the "Last Updated" tag at the top of this page will reflect when the policy was last changed. If at any point changes to this policy result in you wishing to withdraw your participation in the Panel, you can delete the App. You may also contact us at any time at optix_contact-[at]-metaconsumer.com.
